Boa, TVXQ Win Gold Artist Awards in Japan

Korean pop star BoA and the five-member all boy band TVXQ, also known as Tohoshinki, won Gold Artist awards at the ``2007 Best Hit Pop Song Festival'' in Japan. The two were given the Gold Artist award for top record sales during a ceremony that was aired Monday on Nihon Television.

Other winning artists include Japanese superstars Kumi Koda, Mika Nakashima and the group Winds.

For the 21-year-old BoA, this is the sixth consecutive win. For TVXQ, the award is their first win at the yearend music awards.

The five-member group comprising Xiah, Micky, Hero, Max, and U-Know has recently been aggressively promoting their music on the Asian market. They debuted in August and topped Japan's Oricon daily singles charts with their number ``Summer Dream.'' TVXQ has already released 12 singles ― most of which landed in the Oricon top 10 charts ― and two Japanese-language albums in the last two years. They have recently collaborated with Koda on the song ``Last Angel.''

The Best Hit Pop Song Festival recognizes the most popular Japanese songs and artists of the year, based on requests, record sales and karaoke rankings.

SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actor Gong Yoo has proven to be enjoying an explosion of popularity in Japan, after a 2008 calendar featuring himself sold like hot cakes, his management agency said on Tuesday.

According to the agency SidusHQ, originally 2,000 copies of the "2008 Gong Yoo Calendar" were expected to sell, but three times that amount were ordered by Japanese fans. More copies of the calendar are quickly being reprinted to meet the high demand.

MC Shin Dongyup who is filming SBS 'Good Sunday - Explorers of the Human Body' with Super Junior stated, "I'm proud that I was able to memorize the 12 members of Super Junior before filming with them."

After meeting with Shin Dongyup at the filming site on the evening of the 27th at the Boochun Gymnasium, he stated, "I was excited to be working with Super Junior, but I was really scared of having to memorize 12 of the members names. But because their characters were so different, it wasn't all that hard to memorize them all. Going into the first filming, I remembered all their names so I was very proud."

Additionally, "Last week, after filming, we had a drink with the Super Junior members, and because they didn't act like children, it was very fun. I go around bragging of my relationship with Super Junior to other celebrities. I care for them like they are my little brothers, although I'm not sure if they think of me an older brother or not."

Shin Dongyup stated, "My love for them is this, I don't know if in 10 years a group called Super Junior will continue to exist, but whether they are each celebrities, working in businesses, or in other fields of work, I always tell them that they must be happy," like a true senior in the entertainment business. He added, "This is the time to be exploring yourself right now. I forgot myself, but there are many celebrities that lead hard lives. It is required to explore yourself and find what makes you happy."

After being involved in a car accident, Super Junior member Kyuhyun is the only one of thirteen who hasn't been able to film 'Explorers of the Human Body' with the rest of the members. Park Sunghoon PD revealed, "We just received notice from the management company that Kyuhyun should be able to start filming with us starting next week. Of course, airing will occur of this filming 2, 3 weeks later."

Korea's heartthrob Jang Dong-kun (also known as Jang Dong-gun), 35, will be the new face for Hera Homme, the men's collection of a major cosmetic brand here. He joins popular actress Kim Tae-hee, who currently models for Hera's women's line.

"Not only does Jang have a perfectly chiseled face, but he is also well-known to be a highly diligent and focused professional. He possesses a sexy, masculine appeal that fits our product image," said Hera's brand manager Choi Deok-su in a statement.

Launched in 2005, Herra Homme currently ranks first place in the local cosmetics market for men.

Jang will be featured from December. The photo shoots took place in New Zealand, according to Jang's management agency Star M, because he is currently shooting his latest film "Laundry Warrior' there. He stars opposite Kate Bosworth in the action flick, which went into production earlier this month. It will be Jang's Hollywood debut.

Jang has previously modeled for Korean make-up brand Missha with international pop star BoA. The actor has starred in some of Korea's highest grossing films such as "Taegeukgi: Brothers of War" and "Friend." He is also a hallyu megastar who is much loved for his roles in TV dramas such as "All About Eve."

Super Junior Leeteuk: "Anti-fans please support our show."
On the afternoon of the 26th, SBS's new variety show "Explorers of the Human Body" was held in Gyeonggi-do's Bucheon indoor stadium. SUPER JUNIOR leader LEETEUK spoke up, "Anti-fans please support 'Explorers of the Human Body'."

Leeteuk said, "When I go on Super Junior's fansites all I see are posts of support. Therefore I sometimes will go on our anti-fansites to read what they have to say. There was one anti-fan that left a message, saying that he/she supports 'Explorers of the Human Body' and gave us words of support on the post."

Leeteuk then added, "That anti-fan said that 'We would always defame and abuse each other, but Super Junior still displays a deep friendship. This image really changed our thoughts of them.' It seems to be that our performances were good in "Explorers of the Human Body."

According to recent surveys, singing sensation, Rain, and rising star, Yun Eun-Hye, were selected as China’s favorite Hallyu stars.
A Hallyu star popularity vote was cast on the 15th, on a Chinese website by the International Reelection Hallyu Channel (gb.cri.cn/18991/2007/11/14/Zt113@1842259.htm). Rain and Yun Eun-Hye took in an overwhelming number of votes, and were crowned as the top Hallyu stars of 2007.

A total of 15 male and 15 female stars were in the running, and on the morning of the 26th, Rain was bringing in 2,193,388 votes leaving the runner-up, Lee Jun-Gi, far behind in second place. Ju Ji-Hun at the time coming in 3rd place, proving to becoming an up-and-coming star.

Female Hallyu stars were swept away by actresses currently appearing in dramas. The heroine of the drama ‘Gung’, Yun Eun-Hye received a record 2,811,769 votes while Han Chae-Yeong and Song Hye-Gyo came in at 2nd and 3rd with 809,706 and 372,761 votes respectively. Currently on tour in Japan, ‘Asia’s star’, Boa took 106,414 votes, while sexy singer Lee Hyo-Ri received 84,725 votes, standing their ground at 4th and 5th places.

For the '2007 Hallyu Stars with the Most Potential’, netizens selected Super Junior’s Hangeng, and Gan Mi-Yeon, currently awaiting to make her debut in China, as their top picks.

The survey is to last until December 31st in the midst of critical times for Hallyu stars in China.

Super Junior member Kyuhyun recovers from car accident, returns to filming "Explorers of the Human Body"

SUPER JUNIOR member KYUHYUN will soon debut on "Explorers of the Human Body."

Due to Kyuhun's health from the aftermath of the April 19 car accident, Kyuhyun could not participate in any extreme activities for the filming of "Explorers of the Human Body."

On the afternoon of the 27th during the filming of the SBS entertainment variety show, "Explorers of the Human Body" at Gyeonggi-do's Bucheon indoor stadium, the director of the show, Park Sung-ho, announced the information of Kyuhyun being scheduled to appear on the next filming for the show next Tuesday.

The director said, "We know that Kyuhyun has been going through a lot of check-ups at the hospital and also a recent surgery" and "Although there are a lot of activities where a huge portion of it is tiring, having all thirteen of them to participate is very meaningful."

Kyuhyun has recently been appearing on performances for Super Junior's second promotional single, "Marry U", but he wants to participate in more different activities.

The episode of Kyuhyun's participance in "Explorers of the Human Body" will be filmed on December 4, which is slated to air at mid December.

The show has Shin Dong-yeop as the MC. The Super Junior members are in charge of performing and displaying the results of questions regarding the human body. "Explorers of the Human Body" is a comedic and educational program for people to understand their bodies more. Recently the show has become a very popular program as a part of SBS's Sunday shows.

Super Junior Kang-In sent to the hospital
SUPER JUNIOR's KANG-IN had vomiting symptoms during a filming for an SBS show on the 27th. He was sent to the hospital to receive treatment.

Reported by a staff, on the 27th during a filming for an SBS variety show Kang-In suddenly had symptoms of vomiting and was sent to the hospital as soon as filming was completed.

During a Super Junior filming for the new SBS variety show, "Explorers of the Human Body", the staff already knew that Kang-In went to the hospital for treatment. Super Junior member YESUNG also missed a part of the filming because he had to go to the hospital to receive a shot. However he joined the cast as soon as he returned.

Aside, most of the Super Junior members have caught a virus at different degrees of severity.

Super Junior member SHINDONG replied, "Leeteuk hyung recently caught a very contagious virus. Because most of our members had been rather fatigue, we were easily infected."

The members have a new past-time that they enjoy IMMENSELY helping out with good deeds! Let's see what they're up to this time -
The last time we saw them, they were helping at a senior citizens' center.
Today, Super Junior rolled up their sleeves to share their time with children.

They were ready to do what needed to be done! The members listened solemnly to the orientation and after quickly conferring amongst themselves, they were off to do their parts.
Now, before they began the top-to-bottom cleaning, EunHyuk lightened up the atmosphere with some Super Junior music.
So, what will they be doing today?

EunHyuk was in charge of group two. He did some heavy-lifting, then he worked on the cleaning. If he didn't think something was clean enough, he went over it again!

Stuck with the probably the most difficult cleaning job was SiWon. But he was still laughing when we found him! SiWon told us that he'd be done in a jiffy.
Meanwhile, we found Ki-bum hard at work picking up the trash.
As you can see, he was in charge of cleaning up the litter outside.
Spotted next was Super Junior member HanKyung. He had a proud expression on his face, surveying the sparkling job he'd done on a window.

After getting the place cleaned up, it was REC TIME!
It looked like SUPER JUNIOR was more excited than the children - They were all dancing, twirling, and showing off their moves.
There was none of the awkwardness from a couple hours ago.
Helping with the chores, getting a break to dance and have fun, and now?
It was time to chow down with the members of Super Junior.

Thanks to Super Junior, there were some VERY happy children today!
The members managed to put smiles on EVERYONE's faces.
We hope that the group continues to lend a helping hand whenever they can!

Versatile entertainer Hyun Young is poised to debut in Japan by capitalizing on her shapely body.
Hyun is to release a DVD of her body-shaping techniques in Japan in spring. But prior to that she will hold a news conference at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo to announce her debut.

A Japanese PR firm that is organizing the news conference said the event will serve as an opportunity to publicize Hyun's unique image that stands apart from other hallyu stars due to her unique voice and beautiful body. The firm added that more than 100 journalists from NHK, TBS and other broadcasters will attend the news conference.

Hyun's agency says Hyun's debut in Japan will focus on her healthy image and body-shaping success, and that Hyun will also hold promotional activities and appear on television in Japan.
