Like other undergarments, don't underestimate the power of stockings to add to or take away from your look. A lot of women don't pay much attention to the stockings they wear, which can be a huge mistake. Worn improperly, stockings can be a fashion faux pas. It is important to put some thought into the stockings you choose and to take care of them. Here are some stocking hints:
1. When you wear flat shoes, wear opaque stockings. Sheer stockings don't work well with flat shoes.
2. If you are wearing opaque stockings during the winter months, match them to the color top you are wearing.
3. Take care of your stockings by washing them by hand in lukewarm water using a detergent for delicate fabrics.
4. If you really must wash them in a machine, place them in a wash bag - an old pillowcase will do. After washing and rinsing, wrap your stockings in a soft towel to remove excess water and then hang to dry.
5. If you like to wear pantyhose under your pants during the winter a lined pant or a sheer (silky, slippery) material will work much better than sticky pantyhose. Pant legs that get stuck up around your calves is a real image buster.
6. Black pantyhose is too harsh and seldom attractive. Choose nightshade instead.
7. Store stockings in a plastic or cloth bag to keep them from getting snagged.
